Can't connect my ledger - keeps saying incorrect ledger

I've been trying to connect my Ledger device, but it keeps saying it's an incorrect ledger. I've already tried logging out and back in, but it hasn't helped. I only have this one Ledger and I'm now worried because I have a lot of funds that I can't move. Is this common, and what can I do to resolve it?

Have you checked if you have multiple Ledger devices? Sometimes, this issue arises when there's confusion between devices. Try logging out and back in with the Ledger. If it still doesn't work, there might be a temporary issue. If you're still facing difficulties, you could try using a different wallet. You don't have to transfer funds; simply import the same Ledger on another platform like Suiet to access your wallet.

Hey, I completely understand why you'd be worried – that's a tough spot. Good news is, your funds are safe on the blockchain, the Ledger just provides the key. This 'incorrect Ledger' error isn't unheard of, and usually points to a few common culprits:

  1. Sui App Version: Make sure the Sui app on your Ledger device is fully up to date. Check via Ledger Live.
  2. Ledger Live Interference: Close Ledger Live completely before trying to connect. It often conflicts.
  3. Browser/Wallet Cache: Try clearing your browser cache, using an incognito window, or even reinstalling your wallet extension. Sometimes a different USB port/cable helps too.
  4. Ledger Firmware: Ensure your Ledger device's firmware itself is also updated.

One of these usually resolves it. If not, definitely reach out to your wallet's support or the official Sui Discord for more direct assistance – they can help debug further.

Ensure your Ledger device firmware and software on your computer are up to date. Sometimes, this error comes from outdated software versions.

This issue might be due to a mismatch between the Ledger device's private keys and the account you're trying to access. Here are some potential causes and solutions:

Potential Causes:

  • Incorrect Recovery Phrase: If your Ledger device was restored using an incorrect recovery phrase, it might not match the account you're trying to access.
  • Device Reset: If your Ledger device was reset, it might have generated new private keys that don't match the account.

Troubleshooting Steps:

  • Check Ledger Device and Firmware: Ensure your Ledger device and firmware are updated to the latest version.
  • Verify Account and Ledger Connection: Double-check that you're connecting the correct Ledger device to the correct account.
  • Restore Device: If you have the recovery phrase, try restoring your Ledger device to see if it resolves the issue.
  • Contact Ledger Support: Reach out to Ledger's support team for further assistance, as they may be able to help you troubleshoot or recover your account ¹ ².

Precautions:

  • Keep Your Recovery Phrase Safe: Store your recovery phrase securely to prevent unauthorized access to your funds.
  • Backup Your Data: Regularly backup your Ledger device and account data to prevent losses in case of device failure or other issues.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it's recommended to contact Ledger's support team for personalized assistance. They can help you troubleshoot the problem and provide guidance on recovering your account.
